Where you been, Keith?
If you follow this link:

you will see Keith Olbermann finally noticing that the Sean Hannity message board is a bastion of mildly frightening wingnuttery.
Nothing against Keith, I think he’s great, but he got to this party a little late. There are at least four to five calls for violent revolution a week on that board, and this has been going on for years. During the weeks prior to the election, there was a sticky thread from one of the moderators warning posters against mentioning assassinating presidential candidates. Gee, I wonder which candidate they were talking about?
What is especially illuminating to me is that ever since the election, more and more regular posters are starting to claim membership in various “militias” in their automated signatures. Why is it that whenever a Democrat is in the White House these freaking “militias” come popping out of the woodwork? I’m sure that most of these guys that post on the board (as well as all the bozos in the “militias”) are recently fired security guards who have no intention of leaving their basement “compounds.” But all it takes is one yahoo with a chemical imbalance and a gun collection….
The sheer volume of white hot resentment that these AM radio outrage jockeys throw out on a daily basis could certainly provide enough encouragement to push a likely candidate over the edge. If that sounds far fetched to you, please consider the case of Jim David Adkisson, who was sentenced to life in prison without parole earlier this month for walking into a Unitarian church in Knoxville, Tennesee and opening fire with a shotgun. He managed to kill a 60 year old man and a 61 year old woman. He then wounded six other people, most of whom were in their 60’s and 70’s, before he got wrestled to the ground.
In the “manifesto” (of course) left in his pickup truck (of course,) our boy Jim David wrote: “This was a symbolic killing…Who I wanted to kill was every Democrat in the Senate and House, the 100 people in Bernard Goldberg’s book. I’d like to kill everyone in the mainstream media. But I knew these people were inaccessible to me.”
Bernard Goldberg, by the way, wrote a piece of crap book called “100 People Who Are Screwing Up America (and Al Franken is #37.)” Just remember, Bernie, that one man’s witty description of how things just arent as good as they used to be is another man’s LIST OF TARGETS. And of course when they searched Jim David’s house they found the entire lexicon of hateful books written by right wing radio guys looking to cash in. Of course they did. They found books by Michael Savage, and books by Ann Coulter, and books by all the other folks who make millions by providing an enemies list, right there on AM radio, twelve hours a day, five days a week.
Of course they did.
